Study of the mechanisms by which the neuronal diversity present in the human cerebral cortex is generated. Investigation using human and non-human primate neural and pluripotent stem cells, to recapitulate development, evolution and pathological events of the human brain.
January 2008 – July 2013: PostDoc at the Department of Biosciences, University of Milan, in the laboratory directed by Prof. Elena Cattaneo. Study of the biology of embryonic and neural stem cells and differentiation towards striatal neurons, selectively affected in Huntington’s Disease.
October 2007: PhD in Neurobiology at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa.
Thesis title: “Molecular determinants of Xotx2 and Xotx5b action in retinal cell fate specification”.
