Ettore Castiglioni was for many years a key figure in the field of chirality in general and especially of chiroptical methods. His deep understanding of the phenomena, of the most advanced scientific achievements and challenges, of even the subtlest technical aspects, was conjugated with his friendly character. Lately, Ettore was also very much involved in discussing the critical analysis of chiroptical methods and data and his contributions in this field are milestones in the path of education of younger scientists. The journal Chirality (Wiley) has published in 2017 a Virtual Issue in memory of Ettore, collecting several papers written by colleagues and friends.
Between 2000 and 2003 Ettore wrote a series of “Technical Reports” devoted to technical and practical aspects of chiroptical spectroscopies, brief accounts of CD meetings, old histories, and many other topics. He disseminated his reports through a mailing list, but lately they were not available on the internet for a long time. Thanks to the generosity of Ettore’s family and Jasco Europe, all 101 reports can be downloaded from the links below.
