Ettore Castiglioni was for many years a key figure in the field of chirality in general, and especially of chiroptical methods. His deep understanding of the phenomena, of the most advanced scientific achievements and challenges, and of even the subtlest technical aspects, was matched by his friendly character. Later, Ettore was also closely involved in the critical analysis of chiroptical methods and data, and his contributions in this field are milestones in the education of younger scientists. In 2017 the journal Chirality (Wiley) published a Virtual Issue in his memory, collecting papers written by colleagues and friends.
Between 2000 and 2003 Ettore wrote a series of Technical Reports on technical and practical aspects of chiroptical spectroscopies, brief accounts of CD meetings, old stories and many other topics. He circulated them through a mailing list, but for a long time they were no longer available online. Thanks to the generosity of Ettore’s family and Jasco Europe, all 101 reports can be downloaded below.
