After a 7 months internship at the Gust Loads and Aeroelastics office of Airbus in Hamburg, the student Boris Micheli has concluded a M.Sc. thesis aimed at defining a new modeling strategy to idealize the fuselage from a dynamic perspective. This new dynamic model has allowed to handle non-structural masses and to take into account the flexibility of the section of the fuselage in loads estimation.
The feasibility of the model has been proved performing a full Aeroelastic Gust Loads computation with the FE dynamic model coupled to a LFD (Linearized Frequency Domain) Aerodynamic model to consider unsteady aerodynamic effects.
After the selection of the sizing cases, a new approach to recover loads and subsequent loading the FEM considering the local introduction of inertial loads has been proposed, thus ensuring coherence between the loads computation and the loading of the FEM for the following sizing process.
