Vittorio Cipolla’s short bio
I graduated in 2006 in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Pisa (Italy) with a thesis on the aerodynamic design of a ultra-light aircraft with unconventional box-wing architecture, known as “PrandtlPlane”. In the same year, I started the PhD course in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Pisa and between 2008 and 2009 I have been selected for the Fulbright-BEST (Business Exchange and Student Training) program at the Center for Technology Entrepreneurship of Santa Clara University (CA, U.S.). In 2010, I concluded the PhD with a thesis on High Altitude – Long Endurance UAVs powered by solar energy. Between 2011 and 2021 I have participated in several research projects, including “IDINTOS” (Light Amphibious PrandtlPlane), “HYPSTAIR” (“Development and validation of hybrid propulsion system components and sub-systems for electric aircraft”), “ACAS” (Autonomous Collision Avoidance System for Remotely Piloted Aircraft”), “PARSIFAL” (PrandtlPlane Architecture for the Sustainable Improvement of Future Airplanes) and “PROSIB” (Hybrid propulsion systems for fixed and rotary wing aircraft). From 2018 to 2022, I have been Assistant Professor at University of Pisa, where I have taught Applied Aeroelasticity in the MSc Aerospace Engineering course.
