Paolo Neri is an Associate Professor in Design Methods for Industrial Engineering (ING-IND/15) at Scuola d’Ingegneria of the University of Pisa. He achieved a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2012 at the University of Pisa, with a thesis titled “Design of a test bench for rotating excitation of compressors’ bladed disk”. In 2015 he achieved a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, at the University of Pisa, with a thesis titled “Development of automatic techniques for experimental dynamic characterization of rotating machines”. From 2015 to 2022 he worked as Researcher and in 2022 he became an Associate Professor at the University of Pisa. He is in charge of the courses “Industrial Technical Drawing” for the Bachelor’s degree in Management Engineering and “Applied Engineering to High Energy Physics” for the Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Additionally, he teaches the course “Geometrical Modelling for Industrial Design” for the Bachelor’s degree in Engineering for Industrial Design. He is member of the board of the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Management Engineering and Engineering for Industrial Design. His research activity is focused on the dynamic characterization of mechanical structures, exploiting numerical and experimental methods, with a particular focus on optical and image processing methods. He developed several camera-based systems for the geometry three-dimensional acquisition and for the full-field measurement of vibrations using Digital Image Correlation. His research activity is documented in more than 50 papers in international Journals and at national and international conferences.
