SUMMARY OF RESEARCH, INSTITUTIONAL ACTIVITIES AND CURRENT PROJECTS (March 2024)

Her current research activities are focused mainly on industrial chemical processes with reference to the recovery/valorisation of industrial by-products/wastes, treatment of polluting gaseous/liquid effluents, carbon capture, green chemistry, development of biodegradable/compostable thermoplastic compounds and composites for industrial applications, process modelling and environmental sustainability analysis of product/process by LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) methodology. These activities are documented by more than 190 scientific publications in international journals and national/international conference proceedings. Many of the research activities have been and are conducted in collaboration with public and private research agencies or Italian and foreign research centres and universities (MIT, Boston, USA; Universidad Austral de Chile, EGE University, TR; Politecnica Salesiana University, Ecuador).

She was Vice-President of the Chemical Engineering BSc and MSc course programs for 5 years; currently, she is President of the Research Commission of the Dept. of Civil and Industrial Engineering, President of the Scientific Commission for Chemical Sciences of the University of Pisa; Research and Technology transfer contact person of the Dept. of Civil and Industrial Engineering; member of the University Spin-off Committee, member of the National ASN (National Scientific Habilitation) Commission for the SSD CHIM/07 and member of the Scientific Committee of Industrial Engineering, University of Pisa.

Currently, she is coordinator of 2 National projects (PRIN 2022 and PNRR closed call project) and Unit Leader of 2 National (PRIN PNRR 2022, PNRR closed call project) and 2 EU projects  (LIFE2020 and Erasmus +). In her career, she has successfully supervised 6 PhD thesis, more than 60 MSc theses, 7 fellowships, 5 post-doc fellowships and 5 collaboration contracts.
