Short Bio

I received the Laurea degree in Telecommunication Engineering “cum laude” on November 1997 from the University of Pisa. In 1998, I was on a student placement at the Basic Research Institute in the Mathematical Sciences (BRIMS), Hewlett-Packard Labs – Bristol (UK). From October 2000 to October 2001 I was visiting scholar at the Computer Science Department of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). I received his Ph.D. from the University of Pisa on March 2002. In 2002 I was Postdoctoral Fellow with the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa. During the period 2002-2004 I was a researcher with the Consorzio Nazionale Inter-universitario per le Telecomunicazioni (CNIT). In January 2005 I became Assistant Professor at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa. Since January 2022, I’m Associate Professor at the University of Pisa. I have been a proposer and a co-founder of NetResults (www.netresults.it), a spin-off company of Università di Pisa founded in 2006.

Research Interests

My research activities focus on network programmability, traffic monitoring, measurements and modelling in IP networks, deterministic and stochastic packet processing techniques

Awards

I received the best paper awards at the IEEE ICC 2008 conference (Beijing, Maggio 2008), at the SPECTS 2008 (Edinburgh, UK, Giugno 2008) and at the “Passive and Active Measurement Conference” – PAM 2012 (Vienna, Marzo 2012)

Currently, I am the official instructor of the courses:

• Digital Signal Processing (Laurea in Telecommunication Engineering)
• Internet Technologies (Laurea in Telecommunication Engineering, Accademia Navale)
• Network Programming Laboratory (Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria delle Telecomunicazioni).
