Giovanni Rallo, PhD

He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment (DAFE) of the University of Pisa. In 2010, he obtained a PhD in Environmental Hydronomy, with a thesis on “Measurement and Modelling of Water Exchanges in Soil Plant Atmosphere Continuum and Water Stress Functions: Application to olive groves”. In his higher education background, he completed the level II Master’s in “Irrigation in Mediterranean Environment” and a High Scientific Training Seminar on “Trends in plant eco-physiology and ecosystem ecology research”. He has been studying the crop stress phenomenon for 20 years, focusing on its mathematical and/or empirical formulation for woody perennial and vegetable crops under abiotic stresses such as drought and salinity. However, research activities have been carried out to define and transfer new strategies for optimising water resource management in the Mediterranean environment.
