Gianluca Brunori has studied Agricultural Science at University of Pisa. Recruited as research officer in 1986, in 1999 he became Associate Professor at University of Trieste. In 2004 he has become Full Professor at the University of Pisa, where he teaches Food Policy, Bioeconomy and Wine Marketing.
As a researcher, he has accumulated 30 years of experience in the fields of Agricultural Economics, Rural Sociology and Food Policy, participating as Principal Investigator to several European Projects, and in two of them (TRUC and GLAMUR) as scientific coordinator.
The research group he leads works on small farmers’ individual and collective strategies, on the socio-economic impact of food supply chains, on the link between collective initiatives and rural development, on support policies for small farming and rural development at local and regional level.
Gianluca Brunori has been President of the Research Committee “Sociology of Agriculture and Food” of the International Sociology Association, and vice-president of the European Society of Rural Sociology. He has been Chief Editor of the journal “Rivista di Economia Agraria” and has recently been appointed as editor in chief of the journal Agriculture and Food Economics.
He has served as a member of the expert panel of SCAR 2nd, 3rd and 4th foresight exercise, and is currently vice-chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of FACCE-JPI.
