Research Interests
The research activity is devoted to the combined use of thermodynamic and kinetic approaches to get information on complex systems, mainly of biomedical and environmental interest.
For these studies spectrophotometric, spectrofluorometric and fast kinetics or chemical relaxation techniques (Stopped-flow, T-jump) are used, also together with electrophoresis and viscometry.

In particular, the scientific activity finds expression in the following fields:

1) reaction mechanism/speciation of small molecules (organic molecules, metal complexes, pollutants) interaction with biosubstrates (natural and synthetic DNAs and RNAs, proteins);

2) characterisation, reaction mechanism/speciation of metal complex formation (principally of biological and biomedical interest) in solution;

3) reaction mechanism/speciation connected to metal or organic pollutants extraction from liquid wastes by means of micelle-ligand systems;

4) characterisation/solution properties of fluorophores/metal complexes/new materials to be used for instance in photovoltaics as light harvesting systems.
