Curriculum

Lorenzo Cima was born in Pietrasanta (LU) on 1997. He completed his studies at the University of Pisa, where he earned a master’s degree in Computer Engineering in 2022 with a thesis titled Characterization and Detection of Inauthentic Coordinated Behaviors in Strategic Information Operations on Twitter, achieving a grade of 110/110 with honors. Since November 2022, he has been a PhD candidate in Information Engineering, supervised by Prof. Marco Avvenuti. He has been affiliated with CNR-IIT since December 2022, working within the cyber-intelligence team under the supervision of Dr. Stefano Cresci.

Since 2023, Lorenzo has supported teaching in the undergraduate course Progettazione Web and the graduate course Mobile and Social Sensing Systems. From October to December 2024, he was a visiting researcher at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia, under the supervision of Prof. Roberto Di Pietro. In 2024, he was awarded the CNR-IIT “Future IIT Award.”

Lorenzo’s research focuses on coordinated inauthentic information operations, content moderation on social media, biases, persuasive capabilities, and security of Large Language Models (LLMs).
