Short Bio

Giacomo Tanganelli is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa. He received a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Computer Systems Engineering in 2012 and 2016, respectively, from the University of Pisa. In 2015, he was a Ph.D. visiting student at the Computer Science Department of the ETH Zurich. His main research area is the Internet of Things including also wireless sensor networks, M2M communications and low power WANs. He is co-author of +20 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He was also guest editor of special issues on topics related to the Internet of Things. He has been involved in the project BETaaS, Building the Environment for the Things as a Service, funded by the European Union under the 7th Framework Program and in research projects founded by private industries. He has served as co-Chair for the international workshop IoT-SoS in 2018 and 2019.

I am the developer of the open source CoAP library called CoAPthon (https://github.com/Tanganelli/CoAPthon). It is entirely developed in Python and implements the RFC 7252 as well as the Observe and Blockwise addendums. It appears on the Wikipedia page for CoAP implementations and it is currently used also as the  CoAP adapter for the SAP Cloud Platform Internet of Things Service.
