Domenico Tricò, MD, PhD, is Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine (RTD-B) at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine of the University of Pisa, Attending Physician in the Section of Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition at the University Hospital of Pisa, Associate Editor of Clinical Nutrition and Diabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews, EASD and ESPEN Fellow, ideator and creator of Glyconverter.
As a clinical scientist with a strong interest in diabetes, obesity and nutrition, his primary research focus has been to evaluate the effects of macronutrients on beta cell function and to dissect their potential pathogenetic role in the development and progression of type 2 diabetes and its cardiorenal complications. His studies have been made possible by a strong multi-disciplinary research team in Pisa and personal collaborative agreements with leading experts across Europe, USA, and Australia.
Dr. Tricò’s research accomplishments have been presented at national and international meetings and recognized through the receipt of numerous awards from the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), Endocrine Society, European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN), American Heart Association (AHA), American Society for Nutrition (ASN), and Italian Society of Diabetology (SID).
