Claudio Pogliano è professore ordinario di Storia della scienza. Dal 1980 ha lavorato periodicamente all’estero: Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine (London), Harvard University (Cambridge, Mass.), University of California (Berkeley), M.I.T. (Cambridge, Mass.), Dal 2005 al 2010 ha partecipato al network internazionale History of Scientific Objects presso il Max Planck Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte (Berlino). Nel 2011 è stato Visiting Professor alla Cattedra De Sanctis ETH (Zurigo). Dal 2003 al 2013 ha presieduto il dottorato toscano di Storia della scienza.

È membro del Consiglio scientifico della Domus Galilaeana (Pisa) e del Museo Galileo (Firenze). Fa parte del comitato di redazione di Nuncius. Journal of the Material and Visual History of Science.

Ha pubblicato numerosi articoli e alcuni libri relativi alle sue principali aree d’interesse: la storia delle scienze biomediche e antropologiche in età moderna e contemporanea, i rapporti fra scienze, arte e letteratura, la storia della storiografia.

Claudio Pogliano is Full Professor of History of Science. Since 1980 he has been periodically working abroad: at the Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine (London), Harvard University (Cambridge, Mass.), University of California (Berkeley), M.I.T. (Cambridge, Mass.). From 2005 to 2010 he participated in the International Network History of Scientific Objects (Max Planck Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte, Berlin). As Visiting Professor, in 2011 he hold the De Sanctis Chair, ETH (Zurich). From 2003 to 2013 he was president of the Graduate Program in History of Science established by the Tuscan University (Firenze, Pisa, Siena).

He is part of the advisory board of the Domus Galilaeana (Pisa), of the Museo Galileo (Firenze), and of the editorial board of Nuncius. Journal of the Material and Visual History of Science.

He has published many articles and a few books in his main areas of interest: the modern and contemporary history of biomedical and anthropological sciences, the relationships among sciences, arts, and literature, the history of historiography.
