Barbara Leporini is an associate professor in Computer Science at the Department of Informatics, University of Pisa. Barbara received her PhD in Computer Science at the University of Pisa in 2003 with a dissertation on accessibility and usability subject related to websites. Before becoming a professor at the university, Barbara worked as a senior researcher in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) at the CNR in Pisa (ISTI). Barbara investigates methods and tools to make user interfaces accessible and usable to users with special needs. She participates in several projects in the field, for some of which she serves as coordinator as project or task unit manager. She is the author of numerous publications, and she has been speaker in many national and international conferences. Beyond research and teaching, Barbara has been participating in boards and groups working on education and accessibility applied to various and different areas. In particular, she has been collaborating with the working group on the requirements defined by the Italian law on accessibility. She is currently also a member of the Board of Directors of the National Institute for Research, Training and Rehabilitation (I.Ri.Fo.R.) and a member of the National Board of the Italian Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired.
