Armando V. Razionale
Professor of Design and Methods for Industrial Engineering
Armando V. Razionale is Full Professor of Design and Methods for Industrial Engineering at the School of Engineering, University of Pisa. He received a Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Pisa in 2001, with a thesis entitled “Experimental Analysis of Contact Problems by Photoelastic Techniques”. In 2005, he obtained a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pisa with a dissertation entitled “Optical Methodologies for 3D Shape Measurement”.
From 2005 to 2015, he served as Assistant Professor, and from 2015 to 2020 as Associate Professor, at the University of Pisa in the scientific disciplinary field of Design and Methods for Industrial Engineering.
He teaches Industrial Technical Drawing in the Aerospace Engineering and Management Engineering degree programs, and Digital Methods for Design and Manufacturing in the Master’s Degree program in Mechanical Engineering. He has served as Chair of the Council of the Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering for Industrial Design from 2018 to 2025. He is currently a member of the Councils of the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree programs in Mechanical Engineering, Management Engineering, Aerospace Engineering and Engineering for Industrial Design, as well as of the PhD program in Smart Industry and Industrial Engineering.
His research activities focus on design methods based on CAD/CAE systems, optical technologies for 3D scanning, optical methods for mechanical and biomedical design, Design for Additive Manufacturing, and Virtual Reality applications for biomedical rehabilitation. His scientific production includes more than 100 technical papers published in international journals and conference proceedings.
