The research unit on Economics, Strategy & Innovation Management includes two full professors, Andrea Bonaccorsi and Antonella Martini, as well as assistant professor Paola Belingheri, researcher Filippo Chiarello and other post-doc and PhD students.
The unit performs modelling as well as theoretical and empirical research on firm innovation, focusing on the following thematic areas:
- IP & Technology/Competitive Intelligence: technology mapping, identification of emerging technologies, licensing, strategic alliances and business ecosystem mapping, technology foresight, business landscape characterisation, patent portfolio analysis, ontologies, identification and mapping of soft skills required in digital and industry 4.0 sectors.
- Formal Product Development Methodologies: functional analysis, user and affordance analysis.
- Econometric analysis on micro-data: knowledge spill-overs, research systems’ performance.
- NPL-based (Natural Language Processing) tool development for the analysis of technology-based texts: patent & paper mining, named entity recognition, artificial intelligence for text mining
The research unit uses both econometric and statistical models as well as advanced text mining, machine learning and data science methods. They are applied to a wide range of fields and actors such as private firms, public entities and non-profit organisations.
