Prof. Viviana Re is an interdisciplinary water scientist specialising in socio-hydrogeology and hydrogeochemistry of groundwater contamination in rural and coastal areas.
She holds a PhD in Analysis and Governance of Sustainable Development (Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, 2011), and in 2019 she joined the Earth Science department of Pisa University (Italy).
Currently she is co-chairing of the Burdon Groundwater Network for International Development of International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH-BGID), and chairing the IAH Socio-Hydrogeology Network (IAH-SHG).
Research interests:
- Hydrogeochemistry, contaminant and isotope hydrology
- Interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary cooperation and approaches to assess the connections between groundwater and society
- Microplastics and emerging pollutants
- Technical cooperation activities focusing on development of quality monitoring programmes, support to groundwater resource planning, management and protection
