From May 2025 I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Veterinary Sciences of the University of Pisa in the Italian scientific sector Zooculture SSD AGRI-09\/D (Aquaculture, Poultry and Rabbit Science).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My main research focuses on Animal Sciences, mostly in relation to the rearing technique and the production of poultry, rabbits, aquaculture animals and edible insects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From December 2022 I have played the role of International Coordinator (CAI) of the Department of Veterinary Sciences and participated in several mobilities in the KA 131 and 171 projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I co-authored more than 100 publications, including full-length articles and reviews in international peer-reviewed journals, and I presented at international congresses. I serve as a reviewer for international journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I graduated in 2010 in Agro-Industrial Biotechnology (bachelor) and in October 2012 I obtained a master degree in Food Science and Technology with honours. Then, in 2015, I was awarded a PhD in Veterinary Sciences at the University of Pisa. During my PhD, I dealt with livestock science, focusing mainly on meat quality. In 2016, I also graduated from the Second-level Professional Master’s Programme in Food Science: quality, safety and human nutrition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During my PhD, I was a visiting scholar for four months (2014) at the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and in 2016, I spent six months in Spain at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cient\u00edficas (CSIC \u2013 Spanish National Research Council) of Vigo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2016, as a Fixed-term Researcher at the Department of Veterinary Sciences at the University of Pisa, I started a new research line on the edible insects topic, focusing mainly on the rearing technique and the nutritional values of the products intended as both feed and food. I am also the contact point of Pisa University at the International Platform of Insects for Food and Feed (IPIFF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
