Simona Samaritani was born in 1971. She graduated in Chemistry in 1995 and received her PhD in 1999 at the University of Pisa. From 1999 to 2002 she worked at the university of Pisa as postdoctoral researcher and carried out studies concerning the synthesis and the reactivity of new derivatives of 1,3,5-triazine as well as the study of their biological activity. She then moved to Paris (Unit\u00e9 mixte de recherch\u00e9 CNRS UMR8638, associ\u00e9e \u00e0 la Facult\u00e9 de Pharmacie, Universit\u00e9 Ren\u00e9e Descartes) where she worked (January 2003-January 2004) as associate researcher in the field of total synthesis of natural anticancer agents. She then came back to the University of Pisa, where she carried out studies (2004-2006) concerning the synthesis and the characterization of new fluorinated polymers. From february 2006 to october 2017 she\u00a0was researcher at the University of Pisa. Since november 2017 she is associate professor in general and Inorganic Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry. Her research interests\u00a0concern: 1) inorganic and organometallic complexes of late transition metals, particularly in the field of anticancer compounds; 2) complexes of lanthanides, with applications in the fields of luminescence and material chemistry.
