\"\"<\/a>I was born in 1973 and I graduated in Chemical Engineering in 1998 (Laurea degree) from the University of Pisa, where I also received the PhD degree in Chemical Engineering in 2002.<\/p>\n

From 2002 to 2006, I was PostDoc at the Department of Chemical Engineering of University of Pisa. I was Assistant Professor from 2006 to 2015 and Associate Professor from 2015 to 2020. Since 2020, I am Full Professor at the Chemical Engineering Section of the Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering<\/a> of the University of Pisa. From November 2022 until October 2025, I was President of the School of Engineering of the University of Pisa<\/a>.<\/p>\n

My main research activities are within the area of process modeling, control and optimization, and I teach Process Dynamics and Control, Process Sythensis and Simulation and Advanced Process Control in the MS program in Chemical Engineering<\/a> at\u00a0the University of Pisa.<\/p>\n

I am Senior\u00a0Editor of Journal of Process Control<\/a>, and Chair of the IFAC TC 2.4 Optimal Control.<\/a><\/p>\n

My research interests include model predictive control systems, process simulation and optimization, numerical optimization, multivariable systems identification, performance monitoring, and industrial implementations of advanced control systems.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
