{"id":156,"date":"2016-11-10T15:42:43","date_gmt":"2016-11-10T14:42:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/people.unipi.it\/fabio_marchetti1974\/?page_id=156"},"modified":"2026-04-23T14:11:36","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T12:11:36","slug":"research","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/people.unipi.it\/fabio_marchetti\/research\/","title":{"rendered":"Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Our research interests cover several aspects of the coordination chemistry of transition metal complexes, including their synthesis, structural and physicochemical characterization, biological and catalytic applications, and the exploration of novel reaction pathways and activation modes of organic synthons.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Functionalized organometallic diiron complexes<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Diiron complexes have emerged as versatile scaffolds for the design and construction of new organometallic architectures, owing to the cooperativity of two adjacent iron centers (<em>two hands work better than one!<\/em>), their ability to mimic biological systems, and the advantages of using a nontoxic, cost-effective metal such as iron. In particular, the facile incorporation of CO<sub>2<\/sub> into carbamate ligands provides straightforward access to a variety of compounds of the general formula [M(O<sub>2<\/sub>CNR<sub>2<\/sub>)<sub>n<\/sub>].
