This<\/span> research line aims to investigate a several aspects of the behaviour and ecology of synanthropic species mainly for management purposes. The experimental model is the feral pigeon (Columba<\/em> livia<\/em> f. d<\/em>omestica<\/em>), which is the most common bird species of Italian and European cities urban. The main research questions are:<\/p>\n

  1. <\/span>Development and testing of accurate <\/span><\/span>methods\u00a0for estimating<\/span><\/span> birds abundance in <\/span>urban areas;<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Spatial behaviour<\/span> and<\/span> reproductive biology<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Identification<\/span> of <\/span>cost-effective pest control techniques\u00a0 by means of population models\u00a0<\/span>(population <\/span>viability analysis)<\/span> and field and laboratory<\/span> testing<\/span> of <\/span>chemosterilants<\/span><\/li>\n
