Propri\u00e9t\u00e9 et citoyennet\u00e9<\/strong> au nord et au sud de la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e (XVIe-XIXe si\u00e8cles)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Le programme PROCIT se propose d\u2019explorer le th\u00e8me de la citoyennet\u00e9 du point de vue de la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 et des droits qui y sont attach\u00e9s<\/strong>, dans les soci\u00e9t\u00e9s de l\u2019\u00e9poque moderne. Ce projet entend contribuer \u00e0 une recherche sur les processus d\u2019int\u00e9gration sociale ainsi que sur la nature des in\u00e9galit\u00e9s socio-\u00e9conomiques et juridiques qui en d\u00e9terminent la direction, et qui, en m\u00eame temps, en sont les produits. Deux choix en particulier caract\u00e9risent PROCIT : celui d\u2019affronter les dimensions connexes de la citoyennet\u00e9, de l\u2019int\u00e9gration et des in\u00e9galit\u00e9s \u00e0 partir de la longue dur\u00e9e du pass\u00e9 des soci\u00e9t\u00e9s m\u00e9diterran\u00e9ennes (XVIe-XIXe si\u00e8cles)<\/strong> ; celui d\u2019inscrire ces th\u00e8mes dans une perspective r\u00e9solument comparative \u00e0 partir de recherches men\u00e9es dans les terrains europ\u00e9en, maghr\u00e9bin, palestinien, \u00e9gyptien et ottoman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citoyennet\u00e9<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

La notion de citoyennet\u00e9<\/strong> consid\u00e9r\u00e9e dans ce projet ne r\u00e9f\u00e8re pas aux pr\u00e9rogatives politiques formelles dont se pr\u00e9valent les ressortissants des \u00c9tats-nations mais \u00e0 l\u2019ensemble des droits auxquels donne acc\u00e8s une appartenance reconnue \u00e0 une localit\u00e9<\/strong>. Ces droits \u00ab d\u2019appartenance \u00bb, dans les soci\u00e9t\u00e9s que nous nous proposons d\u2019analyser, sont \u00e0 l\u2019origine d\u2019un acc\u00e8s diff\u00e9rentiel aux ressources (que sont le march\u00e9, la propri\u00e9t\u00e9, le cr\u00e9dit, le travail, la charit\u00e9, etc.) qui structure largement l\u2019\u00e9chelle sociale. Le terme \u00ab citoyennet\u00e9 \u00bb renvoie ainsi \u00e0 un statut dans lequel se rencontrent les droits d\u2019acc\u00e8s aux ressources, la reconnaissance sociale de ces droits ainsi que la capacit\u00e9 de les revendiquer<\/strong>. Notre projet de recherche porte donc sur les processus qui, dans les diff\u00e9rentes soci\u00e9t\u00e9s au nord et au sud de la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e, ont pu produire ce statut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Propri\u00e9t\u00e9<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Dans ce projet, la propri\u00e9t\u00e9<\/strong> s\u2019est r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9e \u00eatre une variable fondamentale et commune aux diff\u00e9rentes soci\u00e9t\u00e9s. Dans les soci\u00e9t\u00e9s modernes, la notion de propri\u00e9t\u00e9 renvoie \u00e0 un champ s\u00e9mantique vaste, ne se r\u00e9duisant pas \u00e0 celui de la richesse mat\u00e9rielle : l\u2019acc\u00e8s diff\u00e9rentiel aux droits de propri\u00e9t\u00e9 ne dessine pas seulement des hi\u00e9rarchies \u00e9conomiques ou des primaut\u00e9s symboliques, mais cr\u00e9e des pr\u00e9rogatives qui investissent plus largement les individus. Dans un large \u00e9ventail de cas, la condition de \u201ccitoyen\u201d ou de sujet d\u2019un pouvoir central est \u00e9troitement li\u00e9e \u00e0 la reconnaissance de la capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 acc\u00e9der \u00e0 la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 ou \u00e0 la transmettre. Dans les soci\u00e9t\u00e9s modernes au nord et au sud de la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e, le rapport aux choses cr\u00e9e donc des statuts sociaux, des relations, des liens et donne acc\u00e8s \u00e0 des droits d\u2019appartenance. Ainsi, les capacit\u00e9s d\u2019exercice des droits de propri\u00e9t\u00e9 dessinent les contours de communaut\u00e9s locales et, en cons\u00e9quence, celles de communaut\u00e9s territoriales plus vastes<\/strong>. L\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 la propri\u00e9t\u00e9, en ce sens, est une \u00e9tape essentielle de tout processus d\u2019int\u00e9gration sociale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PROCIT Project<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The PROCIT program aims to explore the topic of citizenship from the point of view of property and the rights attached to it in societies of the modern era. This project aims to contribute to research on social integration processes as well as on the nature of the socio-economic and legal inequalities that determine its direction, and which at the same time are its products. Two choices in particular characterize PROCIT: that of confronting the related dimensions of citizenship, integration and inequalities from the long-term past of Mediterranean societies (16th-19th centuries); that of inscribing these themes in a resolutely comparative perspective from research conducted in the European, Maghreb, Palestinian, Egyptian and Ottoman territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citizenship<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The concept of citizenship considered in this project does not refer to the formal political prerogatives of nationals of nation states, but to all the rights granted to a recognized membership of a locality. These rights of \u00ab belonging \u00bb, in the societies that we propose to analyze, are at the origin of a differential access to the resources (that are the market, the property, the credit, the work, the charity, etc. .) which largely structures the social ladder. The term \u00ab citizenship \u00bb thus refers to a status in which the rights of access to resources, the social recognition of these rights and the capacity to claim them meet. Our research project therefore focuses on the processes that, in the various societies in the north and south of the Mediterranean, have been able to produce this status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Property<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In this project, ownership has proved to be a fundamental variable common to different societies. In modern societies, the notion of property refers to a vast semantic field, not reduced to that of material wealth: differential access to property rights not only draws economic hierarchies or symbolic primacy, but creates prerogatives that invest more widely in individuals. In a wide range of cases, the condition of \u00ab citizen \u00bb or subject of a central power is closely related to the recognition of the ability to access or convey ownership. In modern societies in the north and south of the Mediterranean, the relation to things creates social statuses, relationships, links and gives access to rights of belonging. Thus, the capacity to exercise property rights shapes the contours of local communities and, consequently, those of larger territorial communities. Access to property, in this sense, is an essential step in any process of social integration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
